About this guide

Austin Psychiatry Guide is an independent guide to psychiatric care in the Austin area.

What it is

This site explains psychiatric care to people deciding where to start: what psychiatrists do, how they differ from therapists and psychologists, what a first visit involves, how medication works, what care costs, how video visits work, and how to check a Texas license and board certification. It also lists psychiatry offices in and around Austin. It is written for patients and families, not for clinicians.

The directory

The directory lists psychiatry offices in Austin and nearby from public listings, in alphabetical order. It is an independent publication and is not run by a psychiatry practice. Listings are not endorsements.

Sources

Each guide lists its sources at the bottom. They are public pages from the National Institute of Mental Health, the American Psychiatric Association, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Medicare.gov, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, SAMHSA, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, the Texas Medical Board, the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Texas Health and Human Services, Integral Care and Bluebonnet Trails Community Services.

Limits

Nothing here is medical advice, and the site cannot diagnose or treat anything. Rules, coverage and phone numbers change. Confirm details with the office and your insurance plan. In an emergency, call 911. For crisis support, call or text 988.

Corrections and removal requests

If something is wrong, or if you manage a listed office and want its listing updated or removed, write to contact@ingridschmidtmd.com or use the contact form with the page and the change.
